Homemade Coconut Milk Beverage

This healthy recipe for a homemade coconut milk beverage mimics dairy milk in calories, macronutrients, and calcium and avoids the toxic packaging of commercial versions.

This healthy beverage is made with whole coconut milk to mimic the fat quality of full-fat dairy milk.

The low carb content stabilizes blood sugar, relying on healthy lipids for maximum satiation.

The base of this recipe is ideally homemade coconut milk made with raw coconut meat that you can source at Asian or Latin American supermarkets.

However, if you must buy pre-made versions, I suggest this brand or this brand of commercial coconut milk.

Powdered coconut milk is also an option, but it is quite expensive per serving. This type of product also usually contains maltodextrin and sometimes also digestion irritating gums.

Whatever you do, never buy coconut milk in a tetrapak!

These packages are lined with plastic that leaches into the liquid inside during the high-heat sterilization process.

If after trying this beverage, you discover an intolerance to coconut, then I would suggest these other homemade dairy alternatives as the next best options to consider:

  • Sprouted almond milk
  • Fermented rice milk
  • Sprouted oat milk
