Nutritious and delicious pumpkin smoothie made with whole ingredients, raw honey, and safe brands of dairy-free milk.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie in a glass

Autumn is here, and so is the pumpkin spice everything at the supermarket! I find these types of products very enticing, as I’m sure many of you do too. I just love the taste of pumpkin pie!

I avoid them almost without exception, though, as the ingredients in these ultra-processed foods leave a lot to be desired.

Instead of feeling deprived, I enjoy a Real Food version at home…this delicious recipe for a pumpkin spice smoothie. It is dairy-free but still loaded with plenty of healthy fat. It is also suitable for those on gut healing protocols like GAPS, AIP, or SCD.

The best way to make this smoothie as fast and easy as possible is to make a batch of fresh pumpkin puree.  Keep it in the refrigerator to make morning smoothie making a breeze.

You can certainly use canned pumpkin puree in a pinch. If you like this recipe and plan to make it frequently this Fall, however, try to use some locally grown pumpkin puree as the base. The improved flavor and nutritional profile make the effort worth it!

A quick word on the plant-based milk you use…be sure to only use a cold-processed almond milk if you don’t make it yourself. Almond milk packaged in cartons is toxic.
