Healthy Supermarket Shopping (Video Tutorial)

by Sarah Pope / Affiliate Links ✔

People shopping at Kroger supermarket

I am out of the kitchen and off to do some supermarket shopping in today’s video.

This should be fun!

How much do you buy at the enormous supermarkets where the vast majority of people buy most of their food today?

In this video, I will navigate you through the aisles of backside bulging processed foods to find the things that you can purchase that will enhance rather that harm your health.

I hope this video gets you thinking about where you can reduce your spending at the supermarket and better use that money elsewhere with small, local businesses and farms.

Healthy Supermarket Shopping (Is this even possible?)

Lol!!!! I loved your video! You’re great in front of the camera and you’re so clear and concise. It truly did make me think about what I buy from the store and got me thinking about other sources. Great job! Thank you! Sorry you got kicked out. 🙂

I find the thing that keeps me out of the supermarket the most is joining a weekly CSA. That way I always have fresh food and it’s more economical that the farmers market in my neighborhood. Which, I still go to the FM for dairy, fish, bread etc. Plus, I think the CSA model helps farmers manage their revenue stream more efficiently.

Same, we used to spend hrs in the grocery store and now it’s pretty quick. I do however buy organic and fair trade bananas always. When I see something is available Fairtrade it makes me curious about why and then i check up! Farmers markets have few organic growers, luckily we grow our own food. Love this video and wish we could get that butter in Canada.

Sarah telling it like it is. I really like this lady and have gotten so much good information, especially regarding the butter controversy. Would love to spend some time in her kitchen, cause I’m a visual/stand-beside-me kind of gal from New Brunswick, Canada.

My shopping habits are similar, I would much rather enjoy farm stands in the Summer, than go to the store any day!

I thought bananas were one you needed to buy organic? Can you point me in the direction of any good articles?

I couldn’t get the video to load (sigh), so I read the Whole Foods article. We are getting one in my city and after reading about it, I’ll be sure to stick with our locally-owned health food store so long as WF doesn’t drive them out of business.

Can anyone with an iPad hear the sound on this video? I don’t know why sometimes I can get audio and sometimes I can’t.
