The Milk Cure 10-Day Fast (Day 3)

by Sarah Pope / Affiliate Links ✔

Day 3 of The Milk Cure!  The rubber is meeting the road now.

What’s your story and how is your raw milk fast going?  We all want to know so be sure to share your observations in the comment section.

Paula:  Good morning Vietnam! Superwoman here! I slept amazing and feel like I got infused by the energizer bunny. I may have caught up on some much-needed rest or is it the fast at work?  One of my clients commented that cow was on to something.

I did see my chiro for an adjustment yesterday and he does do acupuncture, however, I have been seeing him every 2-3 months for 6 years and while my body usually feels more aligned after treatment, this is not a typical reaction.

My energy continued to be excellent all day long and it was a long day all around.  More computer issues, worked from 5:30 am until 9 pm about 3 hours longer than usual but energy remained high.  Digestion/elimination continues to be great.  I did notice a slightly different body odor, almost sweet. Urine smelled stronger. Increasing amount of milk each day until weight stabilizes. Weighed in at 117 pounds and consumed 15 cups today.

Richard:  Got up at 5 am and felt great. Drank 5 cups of milk throughout the day and this was plenty to keep hunger at bay.  Also sipped herbal tea and homemade kombucha when thirsty.

Went on a mile-long walk and had plenty of energy to spare.

Having no issues whatsoever.  Feel absolutely awesome.

Sarah:  Still had a mild headache after waking this morning.  Nothing severe, just a tightness around my forehead area.   Had a cup of rooibos (red) tea and started drinking milk about 8 am. Headache disappeared by 9 am.

Made organic popcorn on the stovetop for the kids as a snack and it was tough to take – it smelled so good especially after melting coconut oil and sprinkling the sea salt on top!   Oh my, how I wanted to stuff a handful or two into my mouth!

Around noontime, I started to feel nothing short of totally amazing.  Could I possibly be over the hump and my body has now cleansed a bit and adjusted to the raw milk diet?

Perhaps the long hike in the heat yesterday helped me sweat out a bunch of toxins.

Making dinner for the kids wasn’t a problem today.  I didn’t feel overly hungry and didn’t need a bite of raw gouda at any time to keep me going.

I have no idea how much milk I drank today.  I just drank when I wanted to and didn’t when I didn’t feel hungry.  I’m guessing around 3 quarts but can’t be sure.

Weighed myself at the supermarket and have lost 3/4 of a pound.  Not enough to be concerned about and not enough to drop out of the fast.

Took a magnesium salts bath around 8 pm to encourage more detoxing as well as relaxation.

Richard and I both really wanted to see the sci-fi movie “In Time” which just came out on DVD, so stayed up late watching that even though I probably should have gone to bed earlier as I did not sleep very well the first two nights of the fast.

Am absolutely shocked that I’ve finished 3 days of this fast so far.  I’m thinking I might just finish this thing but still a long way to go.

Day 6 for me. I would love to eat some food, but I can’t really say I am actually hungry. When its cold, I have been warming the milk with a bit of butter, realsalt and black pepper. Makes me feel like I have had a bowl of soup and warms me up! I am feeling cold a lot plus its cold outside then its hard to drink cold milk.
I am also having yogurt and kefir for at least half of my intake. No big issues or major changes in anyway. I have no plans to quit any time soon. I may be on this indefinitly until I reach my desired weight. In another week or so, I might add in homemade bone broth.

I’ve been cold too, glad to know I’m not the only one. Sure am enjoying hot baths!

Day 3 was much better for me. I am still having headaches, but had some green tea in the morning that helped. Blurred vision is gone. Maybe I just needed to sleep, because I did SLEEP! I didn’t wake up this morning until 8am! Not like me to sleep that long.
I set my milk out to warm while I had my tea and made breakfast for the kids. I can’t explain it, I am tired, but still have energy? I know I am different! LOL
We did some fun things about town and came home. I was thirsty, not hungry so I had a large glass of water and I took a nap while the kids watched a new movie. We planted out rose bush and veggies and I started dinner while they played outside.
I still have a heavy chest, I had to use my inhaler a few times, but NOTHING like I used to. I still haven’t used my nebulizer AT ALL!! This in itself is such a miracle for me. I was nervous with this rain coming in. I usually cannot breath at all! My husbands got my machine ready….but it is still sitting in the diningroom smiling at me 🙂 I have a feeling he will be sitting there until dinner and then go back in his case…Because I am not going to be using him! LOL
After dinner I had enough energy to do all the dishes and drank a cup of tea and milk before I went to bed. I don’t know, but I think if I increase the milk intake I am hoping for more energy! I will try this tomorrow.
Sarah I am so PROUD that you made it to Day 3!! I will buy you a gallon of milk if you last the whole 10 days. LOL!!!
I am in this for the long haul, and hope everyone else does not give up. We all react differently to this adjustment, but I am sure the outcome is going to be amazing!! Good Drinking…

Mary Kate, so glad you are doing better and have had a good day! You are on with that bet by the way 🙂

Raw milk is well known to put asthma in remission. Don’t know if it works for all cases, but for many it does. I have a friend with 4 asthmatic children who are all in remission with no need for inhalers etc when they have a steady supply. They even went and bought a cow to make sure they always had enough!

I am seriously in shock that I am still in the game. Went food shopping today and there were organic chips out on display as a sample and I wasn’t even tempted. I’m not normally tempted by them anyway as I don’t typically eat chips, but given my current state I was even more surprised. I think all of us may be learning a thing or two about ourselves aren’t we?

I love reading these comments so much! Can’t wait until I can get started. I have trouble with gas etc and am hoping this will help with digestion. My whole family has a problem with dairy and fats. But as they were all brought up on raw milk from out cows I think it’s the ‘other so called’ milk that is making every one’s lives miserable when they eat or drink it. I’m hoping that is it . I’m going to ask my son to let me board a cow at his place! He’ll more than likely make fun of me. I am on the butt end of many jokes with trying to eat well. They just have not seen the light yet…. Son with Lyme Disease , granddaughter with migraines …..but nope …..hoping they soon ‘get it’ ! Keep on keeping on, everyone!

Still not feeling tempted by sweets in the house, or any food really. Can’t quite believe it! I’m usually a constipated person by default, but I think this fast is really helping! No changes for me in joint pain or energy as others have reported, but no headaches or indigestion either (as I’ve seen in the comments section). Bought more milk at the grocery store yesterday, the 3rd, and they had a “3” written on the lids, meaning it came out of the cow on the 3rd. Fascinating to experience slight differences from one jug to another!

Day 4, not feeling well. Hvae had slight indigestion every evening, but yesterday it was TERRIBLE! So paihful, nothing seemed to help. I finally ate some spourted brown rice bread hoping that would help, but it didn’t. It’s funny because I only have it in the evening, none during the day. Then I woke up with a killer headache today. Elimation is there, but kind of slow.
After an amazing first couple of days I am now wondering if I can finish this, or if I should. Another evening of heartburn like that might burn a whole in my chest!!!

TinaC, try slippery elm tincture. It works like a charm for indigestion of all kinds. I wrote a post on it awhile back if you want to know more. Just do a search in the search box at the top of the blog.

I’m on day four. I was only hoping to make it through five days, but now I may go further since these haven’t been too hard. Mild headache yesterday. I had a little coffee (with only raw milk in it) and it won’t away. Slightly worn out, but that could be my work schedule. Haven’t experienced and hunger pangs, but it has been difficult to fix wonderful meals for my family and simply watch them eat. I take their word that everything tasted great. Consuming slightly less than 3 quarts per day. I haven’t had a bowel movement since I began the fast, but urine is dark. No complaints from my LO in the breastmilk department, either. I ran out of my brewer’s yeast supplements but I am still taking raw prenatals, vit d, and evening primrose omega 3s. This last half gallon was especially creamy and I only had one glass last night. I did have a small bowl of tomato broth on Friday after an especially stressful day (crazy kids, missed a voicework deadline, and..oh yeah, spent an hour in the bathroom hiding from tornadoes…) but after I ate it I wished I hadn’t. Yesterday and today have been great. I feel fabulous.

I hope to try this diet in April, but I think I may only be able to buy raw goat milk. I saw one mention of someone who thought goat milk was actually preferable for this diet, but most people seem to be using cow milk. I would like to use cow milk because then I could decide whether to use all the cream or skim some off. Any recommendations?

Day 5 and all is good. Have lost 4 lbs. Feeling really good. Not tired. Last two nights I dreamed about eating salty foods.

I am on day 3 of no raw milk as recommended by the doctor for my babies rash. I didnt like the idea from the begining but now even less. Both my baby(3 months) and i have been constipated. Her rash looks just as bad. I also have had raised papillae on my tongue that hurt so much at night. Still I will continue at least 7 days. If it doesnt clear up i will try the raw milk diet.

I wish raw milk was available via legal methods in Iowa. Unreal how we’re per capita probably one of the most agricultural states, yet we can’t buy raw milk if we so choose. Cynical forces at work here.

Can you buy into a cow share?

No… Big AG is king here in Iowa. The best I can get is non-homogenized, vat pasteurized grass-fed milk from a small producer. The owner of that dairy freaked out when I asked her about raw milk, even though she and her family drinks it daily.

I guess my only option is to buy my own cow. :-/
