The Milk Cure 10-Day Fast (Day 7)

Working Out With Raw Milk is Sassy

One week down and only 3 days to go!   I can’t believe we will be finished with The (raw) Milk Cure in just a few days.

Are you going to continue past the 10 day point?  What are your thoughts and plans?

Are you dropping any weight or holding steady?  Any improvement in symptoms if you are fasting for that reason?

Please share with us in the comments section.

Paula:  Slept tremendously last night.  Good energy throughout the morning.  Workout okay – not a whole lot of energy during that for whatever reason nor the rest of the afternoon.  Very tired, energy not as good as it was at the beginning of the fast.  Very irritable and short on patience.  Had a busy afternoon and didn’t drink as much milk. Very hungry when I got home and for the first time during the fast I wanted to eat – badly!

Eyed my nice raw hot pepper jack cheese in the refrigerator.   The only reason I did not eat it last night was because of the commitment I made to you all and to myself.  I sucked it up, drank 2 1/2 cups of milk, and was fine from a hunger standpoint.  I think I am experiencing subtle signs of detoxing after all – I just didn’t realize it with how hectic the past week has been.  Must be sluggish detoxification pathways?   My skin looked slightly clearer this morning.  Consumed 13.5 cups and weighed in at 116.4.

Richard:  Didn’t sleep well as was up several times with one of the kids who was restless.  Still felt good at 5am when I got up to start the day.  Drank 5-6 cups of milk throughout the day as usual.  Didn’t feel hungry and am doing fine.

I might be dropping some weight although I can’t be sure.  My pants fit pretty much the same so it would seem not.

Sarah:  Today was milk pickup and I wondered how I would feel as this is always a very busy and physically strenuous day for me.   Was sneezing a lot again this morning but it passed after a few hours.

Drank some kombucha I made at home in addition to the milk as I didn’t want to get dehydrated from working too hard for so many hours without a break.

Had good energy during pickup but after tying up all loose ends by 2 pm felt very tired.   Took a 2-hour nap after the kids got home from school. I really needed some rest.

Still tired even after napping.  Am really wanting to eat dinner as I prepare a meal for the kids.   Finished with the last of 14 cups of milk for the day around 7 pm.

Not hungry but feeling a bit weak.  Drank some herbal tea and went to bed at 10 pm.  Fell asleep easily despite a nap earlier in the day.

Day 7 we went on a field trip. I remembered to bring my milk this time. 🙂 I also brought water because I knew I was going to be in the hot sun for a few hours. I did feel a little shaky when it was over. I was out of milk by then, so when I got home I poured another glass of milk. I took a little nap and then started dinner. I am also giving the kids more milk as well. There is a really bad stomach virus that is going around. Usually I get EVERY bug there is! But, since I have been on this milk cure, I have not gotten sick at all, and the kids have not gotten sick either!
I still have the mucus and am sneezing as well, but we have to get this stuff our of system some how. I am good with the hunger during the day. It is when I am preparing dinner that I am having issues. Last night was organic pulled bbq chicken…but I DIDN’T lick my fingers, but I was so tempted to!!! 🙂 Happy Drinking Raw Milk!

Mary Kate, you can culture the cream like you would yogurt and use it anyway you would normally use sour cream. The culture for yogurt is slightly different than sour cream, but it will taste very good. If you happen to have a good buttermilk culture, that would be the one to use to get the real deal for sour cream, but yogurt culture works well too.
      ENJOY!

    Hi Sarah,
I recently found your site and am trying to incorporate a lot of your ideas into my family’s diet. Thank you!!! I have a question for you. My friend who is a homeopath told me that I should not consider raw cow’s milk as an option because cows have been tampered with so much and even if the cow in question doesn’t get any antibiotics or growth hormones, it’s parents probably did. She also said that over 80% of US cows have bovine AIDS and that the molecules in cow’s milk are too large for our system. She said that goats milk is a better alternative because no one tampers with goats and the molecules in goat’s milk are the right size for our systems. Also, when I told my aunt that we were trying raw milk she was alarmed and told me that the reason for pasteurization was because of TB. Do you know if farms that sell raw cow’s milk have to test for TB or bovine AIDS? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to sort out what is the best for my family!!! I’m very confused! Thank you so much for your time!!!!

This really makes ya want to buy horrible store bought milk , don’t it? From dairy factories ..from cows that are confined and can’t move out of a stall and are fed fertlized who knows what feed …. Yep sure turned me on raw milk ! Little sarcasm here , sorry.

My farmer’s cows haven’t had any antibiotics in several cow generations. I think your homeopath is overreacting. It’s also good to find a farm where the farmer does testing. Many raw milk farms do no testing at all and I won’t buy from these farms.

No farm or farmer is perfect something I learned from Tim Wightman, President of the Farm to Consumer Foundation. Testing really is necessary.

Yes I agree….not even goat farms. Goats get disease too as all animals ……

still feeling good on day 7— needed a nap but didn’t have time to take one– felt a little weak at bedtime and a tiny bit queasy in the stomach area— but I just drank some more warmed milk and felt much better– slept well all night— have not lost or gained weight— tempted by food when I see it or smell it– but am never hungry— it is a good exercise in self-control! I am considering going longer than the 10 days! (and BTW, drinking more milk to help with any constipation, really works!)

I started the milk fast with everyone else and initially felt great, until day four. Then things began to go downhill fast for me. I felt terrible, begain gaining weight despite the fact I was drinking less and less milk, and my skin got incredibly dry and itchy. I thought it was a detox reaction. Then I woke up with cracking skin and hives all over my body. After a few hours the hives ran together and I looked bloated, the whole top layer of my skin was swelling. I was having an incredibly intense allergic reaction. I went to my doctor and they said if I couldn’t find a natural alternative that worked within hours they would like to put me on steroids, ugh. Luckily I had not drank any milk that day and a couple of big doses of Allerfin and a couple of baths in epson flakes and coconut oil helped tremendously. Then today I was giving tea to a guest and absentmintendly put milk in my tea, and am all swollen again, what a dope. So the milk fast did not have the intended results for me, but I did find out I have a milk allergy! And now maybe a few skin and other symptoms I have had all my life will clear up. I cannot go on the GAPS diet right now, but hopefully soon I can undertake steps to heal myself so that I won’t always have to avoid milk.

Hi Tina, I hope you feel better soon. Hives are horrible. I had a small one the other day and hadn’t had any in many years.

HELP! I have every intention of starting this fast on Saturday!! I plan on buying the milk on Friday–tomorrow morning! I am getting some information they may make me change my mind. I have hypothyroidism and I have been told that the casein in the milk interferes with thyroid function. Sarah what are your thoughts? I really thought you addressed this but I cannot exactly recall.

I would love to know what you find out too. As I have hypothyroidism too, and was wanting to try this fast. Mostly because of lyme, but I am still researching and understanding it all first.

Check with your doctor first. I have no doubt casein from pasteurized milk would be a problem, but raw milk is a completely different food.

Day 2 for me. I was amazed at how satisfied I was all day while I was working yesterday. I drank about 6 cups of milk between 8 am and 5 pm, got home and didn’t feel the desire to drink more but I had one more glass. The detox head ache started around 3 pm and took a toll on my energy. I took a nap and woke up dreaming about food… I had grassfed ground beef left overs in the fridge that were calling my name… I sauteed some asparagus and zucchini along with it and my head ache went away after that. So, today I’m going to try and drink a lot more during my work day to avoid hunger and low energy in the evening. I’ve never ever attempted a fast before, so I’m not entirely surprised that I didn’t make it through the first day! Today will hopefully be a different story. In positive news, my digestive system feels soothed and my stomach is nearly flat this morning 🙂

Yesterday, Day 7, was the first time that I really wanted food. I had been thinking about going past the 10 days but if I continue wanting food I will take that as sign that my body wants to stop. I do plan to transition back slowly by drinking milk half days and adding food back slowly. I will start with carbs and additional fat then add protein later. I will pay attention as I add back each food, something has been causing my joint stiffness which is gone on the milk diet and I plan to discover what that is.

I am still a little congested and continue to take detox baths. My digestion is a little slow, I think due to a decreased volume. My basal temperature continues to stay 98.1. My Ph has changed, urine is too acidic and saliva is too alkaline. I am hoping the detox baths will help the saliva Ph and today I am going to use baking soda in my bath. I am sleeping well and continue to have plenty of energy.

Day 10 for me and I lost six punds. I plan to add in bone broth but nothing else for now. And if the broth seems to slow my weight loss, I will cut it out again. Not sure when I will stop, as I still have weight to lose. I am thinking after another 10 days or so, I might start eating one meal a day, and milk for the other two meals. It just depends how I feel as I go along.

I was thinking the same thing. I am excited to be losing weight when that wasn’t the original reason I started. I’m hoping to stay on it a little longer, maybe 5 days, then add one meal a day. It will be interesting to see how it effects weight loss.

The good news is that you can go longer if you’d like as raw milk from cows on grass is a complete food with everything you need. Be sure to rest though if you go much longer ….

Cure for disease or not?…. What cures disease? In all cases to my knowledge its improving the terrain within ones body. The body is made to cure itself with the right inputs AND excretes.
I am wondering about enema’s. As they only work a limited way up the track, is not a better way to clean the entire tract, top to bottom (pun intended)? This procedure may have been unknown at the time.
I do instinctively concur with rest being important to the process.

Miss Sarah, I did send you an email yesterday at your request and am anxious to hear back from you.
