The Milk Cure 10-Day Fast (Day 4)

I’m a Warrior About Raw Milk!

We have all now completed Day 4 of a 10-day raw milk fast known as The Milk Cure.

Almost halfway home now!

Are you over the hump or have you been feeling great the whole time?

Any congestion or digestion issues?  What other signs of detoxification are you having?

Please share with us all the status of your raw milk fast in the comments section.

Paula:  Slept well again even after a very hectic day with computer issues. Worked out yesterday with good energy, today was a no workout day but another long one as we had a team involved in a local competition which lasted all day and it was HOT and HUMID.  Very hot – even got a little sunburned from improper planning.  I did however pack 2 quarts of milk in an iced cooler which kept me sustained for the 8 hours I was there along with lots of water.  BTW, our team got first place 🙂

I am finding I have more energy during this fast. Since I am a fan of numbers, I am logging my consumption in FitDay to see where it puts me as far as calories and macronutrient ratios go.  It’s putting me at about 55% fat, 21% protein, and 25% carbs.  My typical fat consumption is about the same, protein slightly higher and carbs much less.  Hmmm, maybe that is the extra energy?

Am drinking about the right amount of milk now as my weight has stabilized.  Digestion/elimination are normal.  Have wanted to do my Dead Sea Salts baths but have not had a chance yet since the days have been incredibly busy.  Will hopefully get to do this over the weekend.  No real signs of toxins leaving the body — yet.  Maybe that will draw some out. Weighed in at 117.2 but only consumed 12 cups today.  I wasn’t hungry when I got home; I think the heat had something to do with it.

Richard: Spent much of the day outside and got a bit pink from the sun like Paula just due to improper planning. Spring sun can sometimes catch you by surprise in Florida.   Drank 5 cups of milk and that was plenty sufficient to keep me from being hungry. Having no energy or other issues whatsoever other than some mild congestion.

Sleeping very well and getting up early at 5 am as usual with no problem.

Did about an hour of strenuous yard work in the late afternoon which was probably helpful due to the sweating involved.   Did not feel tired afterward and went to bed at a normal time.

Sarah:   Felt fantastic all day long.  Drank 12 cups of milk throughout the day which was plenty satisfying and didn’t feel at all hungry most of the time.

Am really wanting this fast to be rejuvenating as well as cleansing so made the time for 2 short power naps today.   Felt absolutely wonderful for doing so.

I don’t nap much as a normal practice but during this fast, I am making it more of a priority since I am no doubt detoxing.

Mild congestion is now gone, so I do think it was a cleansing reaction in the first couple of days.  I am feeling so good now I am starting to really understand why some cultures practiced seasonal cleansing.  Even when you eat a very clean, whole, and traditional diet, toxins still build up and need to be released for maximum health.   Hmmm, maybe I’ll start doing this more often like Paula?

Did some yard work for about 45 minutes and it felt good to work the muscles and sweat a bit.  I noticed that my sweat smelled different – more sweet is the only way I can describe it.

Elimination is normal.  Took a baking soda bath in the evening to further assist detoxification.   Am really pumped that I’m almost halfway through now.

Day 4 for me and the first day that I’ve gotten up without a headache. Maybe it was coffee withdrawal. I can’t believe that I am not hungry. It is amazing. However, I really want to eat. I miss food. I see my bacon and eggs in the fridge and can’t wait to fry them up and eat. yummy!
I like doing this as a group. I hope the next time you give more notice. I can only get a certain amount of milk with my lease so I’ll have to freeze it and stock up. STOCK! I’d love a bowl right about now! LOL

Feeling good but tire on day 5. Went to sleep too late after. Am having computer issues. Good news is that I wasn’t frustrated and angry and fantasizing about throwing the computer out the door 🙂
I need less milk than most to lose weight but am not weighing myself this time. Just drinking milk as. needed. Plan to drink more often today as I need energy and no low blood sugar issues. Am taking codliver oil and lemon and whey in water. Also hot baths with epsoms salts. Plan to try other baths too like bentonite clay and. vinagerr and various sea salts. Not Hungary but my mouth is bored, lol 🙂

Racheal, I can so relate. My computer is finally functioning now after almost a week of issues with transferring to a new one. No real anger, on/off frustration but I was fantasizing about shooting it and living in the 1600’s when life was much more simple technologically speaking. Oh well, whatever helps. Good luck with the rest of the fast.

    Raw Milk Colostrum —

    Dear Sarah or Paula,

Do you have any advice about including Raw Milk Colostrum into the the milk fast – or is this something that should be only consumed cooked: as in a sweet pudding? I look forward to your reply. Warm Regards,

Loree, this is just an educated guess, but I would stick primarily to the raw milk. Colostrum is full of immunoglobulins which is wonderful, but the nutrient profile would be quite different. Now, if you wanted to do the raw milk fast and include some colostrum here and there, that would make sense.

Feeling okay this morning, this is day 5 for me. Yesterday no elimination but, I don’t feel any negative affects from that. My energy is still fairly low, my biggest problem is that I am hungry. Yesterday afternoon I thought I might not make it. I drink a glass or more, still hungry, no cravings for anything in particular just hungry in general. No acid indigestion yesterday once I left the milk out to get to room temp. Even coddled a bit, which was delicious.
The inflammation in my hands seems to be reduced. Still have not weighed since the first day when I had lost one pound. Will know this afternoon, I can tell that I have lost more, however. My face looks smaller and firmer and the awful dark circles, hollowness under my eyes is much, much improved, at least to my farsighted eyes.

I love this idea! Been drinking raw milk since I had the privilege
Of seeing Mark’s( organic pastures) presentation on it. I have been doing
Traditional foods for abou a year and I have gained 10 lbs. 🙁
    I really need
To detox and figure out how to lose weight and eat all my healthy fats.
Feeling a bit discouraged and is
Fighting getting the chemical filled low fat crap
    That helped me
    Lose 80lbs! Any ideas?

Missa. Have you heard of kombucha? It is a probiotic fermented tea that has enzymes. I started making it and drinking it last December, didn’t change eating at all and I have been losing weight like crazy. I bought my first scoby at laurelfarms.com. It took forever for them to ship it, but it is wonderful stuff!

I so wish I had access to raw milk. I live in NM and can’t find it anywhere. Of course Amasai from Beyond Organic is the best thing around. I feel great when I drink this product. If anyone is interested in Beyond Organic, Jordan Rubins new food and beverage company, please check out http://www.gobeyondhealthynow.com. Most nutritious foods and beverages on the planet today. 🙂

No changes to report yet besides improved elimination. Maybe I need to be doing some sweating or warm bathing as some people have mentioned? I don’t know much about cleansing or signs of toxins coming out so maybe I’m just missing the signs. Still amazed I’m not craving sweets! Still no problems with willpower until dinner time.

Yes, that would be very helpful. The skin is a awesome and very large organ of elimination. People just don’t use it enough for this purpose. Sweating is GOOD.

@ Courtney: Your raw food diet is not the same thing as the raw milk diet though. I mean, it’s a good idea, but you won’t derive the same benefits, for sure. The point of the raw milk diet is to give regular food processing in your body a total break. But I see where you’re coming from.

I am going to do a 5 day raw milk ONLY fast, and then work into the raw foods, and then into my normal way of eating (over another 5 day period), which is not called anything (not paleo or primal or any of that rot). I just eat real food without eliminating any particular food group. I probably won’t derive the same benefits as those who are doing the full 10 days of total raw milk, but it’s all I can swing right now.

Then later on when raw milk is more readily available from my milk lady, I will try the 10 days and see how it goes. At my age, though, I’m thinking 5 days might be better, and I’ll just do it more often (seasonal maybe?).

I’m surprised that you’re only doing it for 10 days. I did it for 4 weeks last year, it’s not hard. Well, it can get expensive depending on how much your raw milk costs.
