Day 2 of The Milk Cure 10-day raw milk fast is chronicled below.

How is your experience going so far if you are participating with us? Are you feeling great? Energetic? Lousy? Tired?

Please post your observations in the comment section to share.

Paula: Slept well that first night. The car is fixed and a new computer is being loaded.  Still tired and rather sore so I took a rest day workout wise and had work issues to contend with.  I find that I am the hungriest early and mid-morning and by consuming more frequently during that part of the day I need less as the day goes on and the hunger subsides.  The biggest difference that I have noticed thus far is that for some reason I am needing to consume a larger amount of milk than I did last year.  Which I find confusing since I weighed about 8 pounds more last year?   Digestion and elimination felt great and “normal”.  Weighed in at 117.6 and consumed 14 cups today.

Richard:  I only drank 3 cups of milk today.  I just didn’t feel very hungry.  I also drank herbal tea and homemade kombucha when I was thirsty and not hungry.   Didn’t get a chance to do any exercise today although felt energetic enough to do some.   Joints and muscles feel terrific and very flexible.  Digestion feels very light and unburdened, the same as yesterday.  Slept very well and had no trouble jumping out of bed at the usual 5 am.

Sarah: I completely forgot that I had committed to go on a school field trip today.  It involved some hiking, so was a bit concerned how I would handle it being on the second day of a raw milk fast.

The hike turned out to be a lot more strenuous than I anticipated.  It was a 3+ mile hike, through the Florida wilderness searching for native wildlife.  While it was incredibly informative and enjoyable (we saw no less than 2 water moccasins up close and very personal – BIG ones!), it was a very hot and humid day and I felt a little weak by the end of it.

I quickly drank 3 cups of raw milk I had in the car after the hike and immediately felt better.  I was somewhat tired the rest of the day but didn’t get a chance to rest at all as I had to help one of my children finish his Science Fair project among other commitments.

I did manage to spend 15 minutes out on the front porch in the sun with my belly exposed which is so beneficial to the gut. If you’ve never sunned your belly before, you definitely need to try it.  It is so very relaxing and pleasant not to mention health-promoting.

Was feeling so hungry by late afternoon despite consuming 10 cups of milk by 4 pm that I had to take 2 bites of raw gouda cheese to help me along.  Am concerned that I’ve already lost a couple of pounds. Will go and weigh myself at the supermarket tomorrow.

Hubby was a dear to make dinner for the kids tonight so I wouldn’t have to smell the steak (I want steak!).  He is not having any trouble at all with the fast.  I’m older than him, so that’s my excuse!

Took a magnesium salts bath to help relax and detox and felt much better after that. Finished drinking milk at about 9 pm and consumed 13 cups for the day.  I’m thinking that I’m not drinking enough but drinking any more would make me gag.

Feeling slightly headachy before bed.  Am wondering why am I doing this again?  Sipped a cup of chamomile tea and went to bed about 11 pm.

I fell off the wagon for a bit, thinking that I would end my fast at 5 days, but after having an egg and some toast last night, and some oatmeal with applesauce and blueberries this morning I think I might continue for another couple days. I restocked with milk this morning.

My energy since starting on Monday has been low. I am drinking 2.5 to 2.75 qts per day and have lost about 5 of my initial 110 lbs. I am trying to drink more milk now in an attempt not to lose any more weight. The blackheads I have always had around my nose appear to be clearing up, which is encouraging, but mostly I have been achy. My entire back was sore earlier in the week and now it is mostly my lower back. I think my shoulders feel more relaxed than usual, though. I often have soreness in them from tension. I have not been running as usual but walk the dogs a little in the morning and stretch frequently, and I plan to attend a yoga class tonight. Epsom salt baths in the evening tend to alleviate my soreness briefly but it usually comes right back when I get in bed. It seem to be improving slowly .

It doesn’t sound like you should be losing any weight. Try adding raw cream to the milk.

I started mine yesterday and ended it yesterday, the brain issues were too much (irritability, super spacey, and candida was flaring) , but i cant help but to think that it might of got better if i would of just hung in there. In the past, If i drink raw milk, i get depressed. Does anybody have any thoughts, maybe if i just hang in there it will get better? I havent read any books on raw milk fast, just some testimonies on the net, and nobody that i have came across had these issues with raw milk. Thank you for any input

Had a great second day! But at dinnertime with friends over, I accidentally (totally NOT THINKING!) tasted two pieces of the fajita meat I had made! 🙁 Oh well! Felt good all day — stayed up too late though, and felt too tired when I finally fell into bed– woke up at 2am feeling queazy and a little shaky– I think my blood sugar had dropped— I sat up and took a drink and felt better– I grabbed my Earthing pad and laid it on my stomach– and slept fine the rest of the night— Drank 3 1/2 qts on the second day— seems to be all I have time to drink in 12 hours, without my stomach feeling to full at one time—

I did that exact same thing. I went to buy raw milk, and they had raw cheddar cheese samples out at the register. I popped one in my mouth without thinking. Oh well! Also, I licked my fingers a few times without thinking while making dinner. 🙂

Day two went better for me than day one. I didn’t have as much to do though so I got to relax a bit. Anytime I feel hungry I have a glass of milk and hunger pains subside. All I’ve had in my body is raw milk and water. I have a lot of weight to loose and am wondering how much milk I should be drinking? I am taking in 6 -7 cups a day. And really about 2-3 cups of water. I find it great that I don’t have to think of what I am going to eat for the day.

Sarah, perhaps you would be able to consume more if you tried having some every half hour… When I read the Milk Cure book by Dr. Porter, that’s the protocol he followed. You could try 1/2 cup every 30 minutes, beginning right when you wake up.

I’m just in the process of reading his book, too. I am LOVING reading this very informative book. I started with the first word in the book and haven’t skipped anything. The testimonials from the early 1900’s are fascinating – just as some of the newer ones are also fascinating. I’m going to start next Saturday, I believe. My milk lady should be able to supply me with enough by then, and I have some milk frozen, just in case.

@ Jenny S: If you’re eating a meal, you can’t really count that as a fasting day, can you?? I can see eating a hunk of cheese as a filler (like Sarah did) if you’ve been away from home and not drinking all the milk you need, but a full meal? I don’t know, I think that would have to be considered a lost day, right? Can someone answer this??

Your right D., I did break the fast for that day, but started back today. So I guess technically I am starting over today. I didn’t have the hamburgers and homemade french fries that may family ate, but a very light portion of salmon, cream cheese and broccoli..not much. I plan to continue until Wed. eve. when we will be celebrating Purim.

So if you want to count me out…that’s okay with me. 🙂

Oh, don’t be silly. There are no rules! We are all doing this to better our health and in ways that work for our lives and routines. 🙂

Definitely no hard and fast rules. I’m very interested in how everyone is implementing this individually and how they are observing the changes/improvements/detoxification.

At the very least, this is an excellent exercise to learn to be tuned into the signals of the body and how to interpret them correctly.

I am actually on day 5 because I realized Purim is next week and would cut my milk fast short…can’t fast on Purim!

All is going very well, but a little less smooth BM on day 3 and 4. I started eating raw yogurt today to hopefully help. I’m going, but not as well as normal.
I think my eyesight is clearer…anyone experience this? I am 39 and have noticed a little less clear vision, but it seems better during this fast.
I am 5’2″ and drinking around 2 QT each day. I have lost 3 lbs. so far. I am exercising around 30 min/day alternating elliptical trainer and weights.
I did eat Shabbat dinner with my family last night as i didn’t want to just have milk…it’s a special dinner for us. I had smoked salmon with cultured cream cheese and steamed broccoli with cultured butter and a glass of wine.
Continuing on day 5 and feeling great!

    Thank you Sarah and Paula!

Can’t believe I have not had hunger issues or temptations for sweets yet! No wandering in the kitchen trying to figure what to snack on – just pour more milk! Discipline-wise, it hasn’t been difficult during the day, probably because a travel mug of milk is Si convenient for my on-the-go weekdays. We shall see what the weekend holds. Dinner time is when it feels like something is missing, but do far that’s been due to the social aspect of dinner. Weird to sip milk and watch people eat!

I’ve “slipped up” a couple times by licking a spoon after preparing something for my daughter. Has me thinking about how many mindless calories I consume! Am wondering about the long term health benefits/risks of drinking only milk, herbal tea, and water during the day and then a nutritious dinner. If I could get the nutrients I need, I could easily see a routine like that becoming a lifestyle.

No improvements in elimination or joint pain (two things I’m hoping this fast can improve) and I haven’t weighed myself again. Also haven’t kept track of how much in drinking so will start that today!

HI….Hanging in there, I don’t feel too hungry, except yesterday I had an expected couple of hour errand to run and forgot to take some milk. Stopped at the health food store and got some raw kombucha (only drank about 1/3 of it) that helped as I had to stop at the store for some items for dinner and did not want to be tempted. I did good until I could get home and drank 2 glasses of raw milk. Hubby thinks I am crazy. I did not feel quite as bloated as I did last night. I have not been taking probiotics or digestive enzymes as usual; should I be taking them? I have been exercising some and felt pretty energetic. Had a slight headache last night but slept great as usual. TMI…..has been going from solid to not solid to solid again…is that normal?

I’m just starting this today as I was out of town on the 1st/2nd. I have only enough milk for 4-5 days, depending on how much I drink, but I thought I’d join in with all of you. I love reading your experiences. I’ve never successfully done any kind of fast before.

I am hanging in there as well. I feel good, but a little tired. Not really hungry at all. I struggle to wake up in the morning and always feel stuffed up, I was hoping the milk cure would help with that. Im only on day 3 so we shall see.
