proof of healed cavities

The compelling article written by Dr. Judene Smith DDS about minimally invasive dentistry and how it ignores strong scientific evidence about how cavities heal really brought out the drill-happy dentists in droves! It seems they are unaware of the study published in 2019 in the peer-reviewed journal Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology that demonstrated over a 7 year period that no drill dentistry works.

As anecdotal evidence to the emerging scientific consensus on the matter, I am presenting a series of photographs sent to me by Rami Nagel, author of the paradigm-shattering book Cure Tooth Decay.

*Another photographed case of resolving cavities is found in this article more pictures of remineralizing caries.

The photos are of an 18-month-old child from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Rikki, the boy’s mother, took these photos as her son’s cavities remineralized over a period of 8 weeks after commencing a dietary program that included supplementing with unprocessed cod liver oil and high vitamin butter oil.  It is important to note that regular cod liver oil found in health food stores will not produce the same spectacular results you see in these photos. Why? These are processed and fortified with synthetic vitamins that are not effective.

The sad truth is that when a parent brings in a child with significant tooth decay, toxic, IQ lowering fluoride treatments, drilling/filling or even crowns and root canals are recommended on baby teeth!  These treatments which can be incredibly expensive are not necessary as in a majority of cases, children’s teeth will quickly remineralize with dietary intervention. Adult teeth with cavities will heal in a similar fashion as long as they have never been drilled or compromised by dental treatments in the past.

What Did This Child Eat That Caused These Cavities?

Possibly the most shocking thing about this story is that this toddler was not eating a junk food diet when these cavities formed.  He was still breastfeeding and eating an all-organic diet. His favorite foods consisted of graham crackers and flaxseed bread.  He also was fond of organic granola bars which he ate regularly.

The problem with store-bought whole grain products is that they are high in antinutrients like phytic acid that block mineral absorption. These foods are not a good choice for regular consumption by growing children.

Rikki’s son also ate fruits and vegetables and organic eggs although his mother avoided butter and milk thinking they were bad for him. After reading Cure Tooth Decay, she realized that butter and milk from grass-fed cows are very healing and strengthening for teeth and bones. Grass-fed dairy also counteracts some (but not all) of the negative effects of the toxins and anti-nutrients in processed grain products from the store.

Foods That Healed this Child’s Teeth

Rikki implemented 4 major changes to her son’s diet in order to achieve the results you see below.

  1. She cut out grains and sugars. This reduced the mineral depletion from the commercial grains and sugar.
  2. She started giving him Green Pasture’s Royal Blend (a combination product of high vitamin cod liver oil and butter oil) which gave her son the needed fat-soluble vitamins to remineralize his teeth.
  3. Her son now gets unpasteurized dairy regularly including real raw milk cheese and fermented vegetables like pickles.
  4. Their family uses butter liberally, and Rikki makes homemade broth and soups from pasture-raised chicken.

Unfortunately, the earliest picture is of the teeth after 1 week on the new dietary protocol described in Cure Tooth Decay.  There wasn’t a control picture available of what the cavities looked like before any changes were made. Even still, the visual healing that takes place is compelling and should give every parent hope that cavity problems can be dealt with at home with simple dietary changes in the majority of cases.

Will these dietary interventions be easy? Most definitely not if a conventional diet is being followed. For those already eating a whole foods-based diet in their home, the changes are much easier to accomplish. Far and away the most difficult change to implement for cavity-prone children especially if they attend school is eliminating processed grain-based foods.

My daughter was diagnosed with a cavity which devastated me. I read the book “Cure tooth Decay” and doubled her FCLO intake. When the dentist diagnose her, she scared me that if I do not “fix” the cavity, it will advance very quickly due to the thin layer of dentin that toddlers have (she is 4 years old). No mention of healing of course….Yet, I wanted to wait a bit and research what is going on.
3 months later we went for a check-up on the cavity, and another dentist from the same practice saw her. He said that she definitely does not need any treatment on her “beginning of a cavity” (that’s what he called what the other dentist diagnosed with a clear cavity). When the initial dentist saw my daughter another 3 months later (6 months after the initial diagnostic), she said that “the cavity has been arrested due to good diet”. I was like “Huh???Why did you not mention this before? That this is even possible?” She said that her “cavity” is not brown & soft but black and hard, and much smaller…practically there is no more cavity there. I was on cloud nine of course….
I am not sure what the pictures show, but even Nagel says that when cavities heal they become black and hard. The baby in the pictures show white in place of the slightly brown sport. Maybe this is happening to babies???? I don’t know. All I know is that my daughter does not have a cavity anymore, at least nothing that needs any treatment, and her teeth got better due to high FCLO doses. We do not do the blend as it is disgusting, but she happily takes a liquid oil and eats lots of butter from grass-fed cows every day. She still eats grains, mostly white bread from an artisan bakery (that uses old fashion fermentation methods).

Elisa, my 5 year old daughter has a cavity. In fact I had her to the dentist today and he attempted “laughing gas” and she resisted it to the point of his stopping and suggesting her coming back after taking a valium! I came home to re-look up the info I had found on the FCLO and we’re going to try that before taking her back to the dentist. How much of the FCLO did you give to your daugher?

      Thank you for your time!

The oil works because most of the vitamins and minerals that help with remineralization are oil soluble. You don’t need cod liver oil or butter oil, you just need a high quality oil.

Ummm, no. Any high quality oil WON’T work because not all oils contain vitamins A/D/K2 which is what is required to remineralize the teeth based on the research of Dr. Weston A. Price.

If you follow the links to the root story they are trying to sell you a book claiming bacteria don’t cause decay.
    I wouldn’t stop brushing!
PS. If the cause is not plaque… Then why is the decay at the gum line in the exact region where plaque accumulates? News flash… Healthy home economist reports world is flat after all… Pay no attention to any conflicting evidence.

It’s really quite simple decay wise. Speaking as a licensed dentist here. Decay is caused by naturally occurring bacteria in your mouth. When you eat or drink any item that is calorie containing, those calories (essentially simple sugars at their most basic molecular level) are broken down by the bacteria, who then release acid in your mouth as their “waste product” for about 30 minutes after you’re done ingesting the caloric items. That acid will then “eat” away at your tooth structure. You body via a remineralization process can fix the acid affected tooth structure up to a certain point. If you expose your teeth to the effects of the acid at a quantity and frequency that is greater than your body can “fix” you get tooth decay. It’s that simple. Decay is all about the frequency at which you expose your teeth to caloric items, NOT the type of food or liquid (raw vs. organic vs processed) that you consume

Right, which I think is the (or even A cause since I do still feel that poor diet is a big part of the problem obviously) cause of decay no matter what that book says. It makes sense that acidic bacteria and bacteria by-products will eat through enamel. But what about re-mineralization? Does it exist and is it possible? There’s so much conflicting evidence and personally, I don’t trust photos any more than I do anything else because they can always be photoshopped. I use the program myself for graphics work!

So as a dentist, tell us what you learned about that in your textbooks?

No offense Jeff..but, when you say that you are speaking as a licensed dentist, I trust you less. I do not mean any disrespect, but my father in law was a dentist and my cousin is a dentist, and there is an incredible amount of information that they are completely unaware of..I think we are living in a time when knowledge is abounding and every day we find out more…as long as no one tries to block that flow of information, then we can all learn. I have 30 yrs in medical, and the best doctor I ever knew was an oncologist who looked me in the eye, while discussing my Dad’s cancer battle, and said, “You KNOW, that it is just my best, educated GUESS.” I will always be grateful for that, as no one knows all the answers and it takes guts, if you are a professional, to admit it. Just be OPEN..that is all we need to do. Truth stand alone and doesn’t need anyone to bolster it.

Sad that all these dentists clearly have never read the best book on the subject by the greatest dentist that ever lived (in my humble opinion that is), Dr. Weston A. Price. Please read his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration and you will be surprised by how ignorant you are.

Thank you. I keep telling people that. I seen my teeth remineralizing and I’ve been a vegan for 13 years.

    • Sarah Pope MGA

      Mar 8, 2020 at 10:16 am

LOLOL. No, vegans’ teeth don’t remineralize. Just ask the vegan community down near Miami who have so many members with their teeth loosening/falling out that they literally eat raw grassfed butter straight out of the tub in desperation to turn their failing health around. Or, ask Demi Moore (longtime vegan) whose two front teeth FELL OUT and she attributed it to “stress”. Seriously, vegans seem to have an endless capacity to rationalize their unwise dietary choices.

I am so grateful for articles relating to remineralizing your teeth! I do have two questions regarding this topic. 1. Am I just out of luck if I have had dental work done? I wish I would have learned this a year ago, because since then I have had three root canals! 2. I have found a local place that sells organic, non-gmo wheat and grains. Does anyone know if these products are more healthy for me, or should I still cut out grains altogether? THANK YOU!

I’d just skip the grains if you can do it right away. Otherwise, wean yourself off of grains with the organic non-gmo stuff until your body can handle getting away from most of them all together. We try to just eat some rice and some oats and other than the occasional handful of barley in a soup, we leave well enough alone. We’re lucky to have a great gluten free bakery nearby that makes awesome ‘paleo’ type bread from coconut and almond flours.

I remember when we tried to go totally cold turkey to cut grains and white starch like potatoes out of our diet overnight I started getting the shakes and I couldn’t function or stay awake to the point that I finally drove to a DRIVE THRU and grabbed a thing of fries and shoved all of them in my mouth before I got home. I felt like I was going to die. lol. I didn’t realise at the time that I’m a mixed type leaning toward carb type a little. My body needs more carbohydrates than my husband and son do.

Wonderful proof. I can understand why the orthodox community were outraged. They are taught that this is not possible, by people with vested interests.
The good news is that many are waking up and I trust it will soon gain enough momentum that nothing will stop it.

It sure looks like the tooth was unchanged in the first 3 images and then restored by a dentist with a tooth colored resin. As a dentist I do remineralize early decay… But these pictures are well beyond remineralization to the point of regeneration…. I find that hard to believe without an act of god.

I had really hoped there was something to this. I had heard about this story and the book for some time, but the before and after photos are not convincing to me. I don’t know what is “remineralizing” – the teeth are still translucent at the edges and to my eye the enamel looks the same. I would like to see more photos if there are others that feel that they have had good results.

I’ve been on fermented cod liver oil before for quite a while with no changes to my teeth. I was also drinking raw milk and butter at the same time….
