Day 2 of The Milk Cure 10-day raw milk fast is chronicled below.

How is your experience going so far if you are participating with us? Are you feeling great? Energetic? Lousy? Tired?

Please post your observations in the comment section to share.

Paula: Slept well that first night. The car is fixed and a new computer is being loaded.  Still tired and rather sore so I took a rest day workout wise and had work issues to contend with.  I find that I am the hungriest early and mid-morning and by consuming more frequently during that part of the day I need less as the day goes on and the hunger subsides.  The biggest difference that I have noticed thus far is that for some reason I am needing to consume a larger amount of milk than I did last year.  Which I find confusing since I weighed about 8 pounds more last year?   Digestion and elimination felt great and “normal”.  Weighed in at 117.6 and consumed 14 cups today.

Richard:  I only drank 3 cups of milk today.  I just didn’t feel very hungry.  I also drank herbal tea and homemade kombucha when I was thirsty and not hungry.   Didn’t get a chance to do any exercise today although felt energetic enough to do some.   Joints and muscles feel terrific and very flexible.  Digestion feels very light and unburdened, the same as yesterday.  Slept very well and had no trouble jumping out of bed at the usual 5 am.

Sarah: I completely forgot that I had committed to go on a school field trip today.  It involved some hiking, so was a bit concerned how I would handle it being on the second day of a raw milk fast.

The hike turned out to be a lot more strenuous than I anticipated.  It was a 3+ mile hike, through the Florida wilderness searching for native wildlife.  While it was incredibly informative and enjoyable (we saw no less than 2 water moccasins up close and very personal – BIG ones!), it was a very hot and humid day and I felt a little weak by the end of it.

I quickly drank 3 cups of raw milk I had in the car after the hike and immediately felt better.  I was somewhat tired the rest of the day but didn’t get a chance to rest at all as I had to help one of my children finish his Science Fair project among other commitments.

I did manage to spend 15 minutes out on the front porch in the sun with my belly exposed which is so beneficial to the gut. If you’ve never sunned your belly before, you definitely need to try it.  It is so very relaxing and pleasant not to mention health-promoting.

Was feeling so hungry by late afternoon despite consuming 10 cups of milk by 4 pm that I had to take 2 bites of raw gouda cheese to help me along.  Am concerned that I’ve already lost a couple of pounds. Will go and weigh myself at the supermarket tomorrow.

Hubby was a dear to make dinner for the kids tonight so I wouldn’t have to smell the steak (I want steak!).  He is not having any trouble at all with the fast.  I’m older than him, so that’s my excuse!

Took a magnesium salts bath to help relax and detox and felt much better after that. Finished drinking milk at about 9 pm and consumed 13 cups for the day.  I’m thinking that I’m not drinking enough but drinking any more would make me gag.

Feeling slightly headachy before bed.  Am wondering why am I doing this again?  Sipped a cup of chamomile tea and went to bed about 11 pm.

    Hi Sarah

Can I just ask you when you say a magnesium salt do you just mean epson salt bath.

Since starting this I too have had headache and clogged ears. Do you believe milk causes more mucas in some people.

The mucus is most likely a cleansing effect and will be temporary. Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate .. there are other types of magnesium salts you can use also that might be more effective for you like magnesium chloride. You can also use magnesium oil spray instead of a bath. My Resources page has a listing of where to get them if you are interested.

    Day 2 — March 2
Woke up and didn’t even feel hungry. About an hour later, had some milk. Drank about a cup every hour or two. Energy is good. I didn’t do anything too strenuous. Gave myself a 30-minute rest in afternoon.
I sat through six hours of graduate school tonight. I got permission ahead and stored my raw milk in the University’s refrigerator, and had a big cup during the 20-minute break we had. I also drank a good amount of water during class. I drank about half a gallon today.

My skin looks very clear. I stopped drinking coffee and tea about five days earlier.

I’m home now — 11:30pm. I feel good. Tired, ready for bed.

I am just finishing up day 3. It is cold in WA State and I am used to doing green drink fasts in the spring and fall for 10 to (30 days one time). I

did the milk fast for 12 days about a year ago and didn’t lose a single pound! That was a surprise! I’m telling the clerks where I buy milk that I am fasting for Dairy farmers and solidarity with and for them.
My husband was coming down with a bug, so make onion and curry bone broth for him. I had a cup of broth. Otherwise, besides a headache, this morning, I am doing good. As long as I keep milk with me I feel secure. I had a real issue with blood sugar last milk fast and learned to keep the milk with me. Great going everyone. Love doing this and am drinking less milk this time in hopes of losing at least a little weight. All the other good benefits trump weight loss though 🙂

Today is day 4 for me. I had lunch out today which was not planned but had milk for breakfast and dinner. So far I have lost 2.2 pounds which I am very happy about. That right there is incentive for me to keep going! I have not felt hungry at all and if I do it is because I need to get more milk. I’ve been drinking roughly a 1/2 gallon per day with the last quart of the day made of fresh kefir and a little added milk. I’ve been sleeping pretty good for me. I feel more clear headed and overall very good. I will definitely go the full 10 days if all goes well and I will probably do this about once a month until I reach weight loss goals.

Sarah, I seem to be having acidic stomach problems, a little bit yesterday, more this afternoon and evening. As far as I know I have never had a problem with lactose. This is the end of day 3 for me. What do you think?

I have a question for Melanie. Has the milk fast helped your hyperaccusis? I have a sister who developed hyperaccusis over a year ago, and is still dealing with it. She has never tried raw milk and isn’t interested in starting. But if she knew someone whose hearing had returned to normal after drinking raw milk, she might be interested in trying it.

A cleansing bath with magnesium salts very well may help. I swear by them myself.

Today is day three for me. Last night I started having pain in my lower right back. I rubbed the area with some Bio Freeze. Today everything from my waist down aches like a toothache. It’s horrible.
I’m sticking with it though. I weighed myself and I’m down another 2 pounds. I’ve been drinking close to 3 quarts a day. I’m not hungry at all. Today I did have some raw goats milk yogurt after taking a walk with the dog. (I was hoping the walk would help my legs stop aching) This was my first taste of raw yogurt and the tang took me by surprise. Not a big fan, so I put a half a spoon of honey in it. Probably not allowable but I didn’t pay that much for yogurt to have it go to waste.
I’m wondering if I need some magnesium to counter all the calcium? Maybe an epsom salts bath? If they continue to hurt like this, I may have to stop. If anyone can maybe recommend something for me I’d appreciate it.
    Blessings

Day 2 was horrible for me. I woke up exhausted and with a headache. I drank a cup of milk and 1/2 cup of water. We took our FCLO and started schooling. I put dinner in the oven to slow cook that way, and poured another small cup of milk. I have a LOT of mucus which is a concern with me, but I am not going to stop now! Made myself a cup of green tea. I am thinking I am going through coffee withdrawals.
By late afternoon, I had to take a nap for about an hour. I finished dinner and made another cup of milk. My chest is very heavy, I have sinus headache now and not hungry, but have those pings. So, I had a small glass of kefir that was in the refrig. ( but noticed that it was the pasteurized cultures. oh well.) It was good going down and gave me a little boost to finish up the dinner and stuff.
After putting the kids to bed, I am still not feeling well. I also am having some blurred vision. So, to bed I went. I am trying to stay positive and the biggest thing that I was doing this for was my health. Well, Ladies and Gentleman, I haven’t used my nebulizer at ALL on Day 2 OR my rescue inhalers and only took had to take the 1 med. that I am tapering down. I know Day 3 will be better!! Oh and I slept GREAT!
