Healthy Home Economist / Archives / Conferences & Events / PaleoFX12 in Pictures

PaleoFX12 in Pictures

by Sarah Pope / Affiliate Links ✔

I was honored to speak recently at PaleoFX12 which took place March 14-17, 2012 in Austin, Texas.

As the representative for the Weston A. Price Foundation, I discussed the research and teachings of Dr. Weston A. Price on the panel titled “Ancestral Wellness for Babies, Tots, and Children”.

I had a great time and made many new friendships as well as reconnected with other folks I’ve met at conferences in past years.

I thought I would share a few pictures from PaleoFX12 with you.  Perhaps you have met some of these folks yourself or have read their books or listened to their podcasts?

The picture to the right is of me and Nora Gedgaudas, author of Primal Body, Primal Mind.  Nora is a fascinating person and I just love talking with her and exchanging ideas about all sorts of crazy stuff.   She is one of the smartest people I know and her book is an incredible read on how bodily health and mental health are inextricably intertwined.

The next picture is of Angelo Coppola, who hosts the wildly popular “Latest in Paleo” podcast. Angelo was the moderator of the panel discussion I participated on.   Angelo radiates positive energy whereever he goes.

Angelo is also a new member of the Weston A. Price Foundation and so I look forward to seeing him again at some WAPF events in the future.

The third picture is of me and the currently reigning Mrs. United States, Shannon Ford. Shannon was one of the very first people I met at PaleoFX12 and we talked each other’s ears off at the VIP Dinner the evening before the conference began.  Shannon is celiac and has gone Paleo to help successfully deal with her condition and as you can see, it’s working!   Shannon is one gorgeous, smart, amazing person and I look forward to catching up with her again soon since she is a fellow Floridian too.

The next picture is Robb Wolf, author of the Paleo primer The Paleo Solution and the blog robbwolf.com which is absolute must reading for any of you Paleos out there.

Robb is about to become a Dad very soon (perhaps he is already at the time of this posting), so congratulations to him and his wife who is doing very well in her final days before the baby is born.

Robb is also one of Paula Jager’s mentors. Paula writes the fitness posts for this blog, so Paula, this picture is for you!

The final picture is of Jimmy Moore of LivinLaVidaLowCarb fame.  Jimmy lost 180 pounds and 40 inches by starting to eat Paleo back in 2004 and has helped many others in a similarly successful journey every since.

Well there you have it. A few pictures of me hanging out with some seriously wonderful folks at PaleoFX12.

What cool stories do you have to share from PaleoFX if you were there?

If not, have you met any of these people at other events?

Do tell!

I think the original book about the Paleo diet was The Paleolithic Prescription by S. Boyd Eaton. Published in 1988. That is a great book with lots of interesting material about childrearing and breastfeeding. Way more than just a diet book. I highly recommend it.

This sounds like a fun conference. I’ve follow Ann [email protected] who has introduced me to Matt Stone and I wonder what these guys would say to him. Do you know about Matt Stone at 180degreehealth? If so, what do you think?

Is there a way to get replies emailed to us?

I think Matt is a very smart guy but I don’t agree with his philosophy of eating as many grains as you want and totally indulging yourself whenever you want to. There is a balance that always needs to be struck and encouraging people to eat candy bars and soda even on occasion is not helpful advice.

Will there be a way to listen to the discussion you took part in? I’d love to hear it.
