homeopathic cell salts for fevers

Put down that Tylenol. Did you know that using it only once a month raises your child’s risk of asthma astronomically?

Hang up the phone to the pediatrician’s office.

Don’t touch the analgesics.

You can do this on your own! Fever is not a bad word. It is your friend!

In fact, it’s the mechanism that the body has intuitively designed to cook off illnesses such as the flu, colds, ear infections and the like. And it serves an important purpose because it is the body’s way of curing the illness.

Did you hear me? Fever is the body’s way to rid us of illness.

Then why eradicate the cure by administering a synthetic drug, such as Tylenol, aspirin and the like?

Certainly, we don’t want our child to suffer needlessly, but by employing meds to suppress a fever, we’re chemically forcing the body to stop treating itself with its natural promise of resolution.

What Some (Good) Doctors Say about Fevers

In the words of my all-time favorite pediatric hero, Dr. Robert Mendelsohn, in his book, How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor,

There is a common misconception that the height of body temperature is an indication of the severity of illness. Research has shown that more than half of all parents consider a fever high at levels between 100-102 degrees F. And almost all believe it is high if it reaches 103 degrees.

These parents are also convinced that the height of fever indicates how sick their child is. This emphatically is not the case. Knowing the level of your child’s fever will tell you nothing of how sick he is or if the fever is produced by a viral or bacterial infection.

There’s nothing to be gained by measuring its climb and by doing so will only magnify your fears and upset the child. Even a temperate of 105 need not be a cause of concern.

Even Dr. Sears is quoted on his site regarding normal childhood illnesses as saying,

Fevers are not serious. Many parents have a misconception that fevers are a bad thing and a sign that there is some serious underlying illness. This simply is not true.

Fever is a normal and healthy response of the body to an illness. The body’s immune system releases chemicals that raise the body temperature. This is part of the normal infection-fighting process.

Dr. Thomas Cowan MD, presenter at the Weston A. Price conference two years ago, made it clear that fever may be instrumental in warding off the potential of cancer in the future.

He elaborated that every case in which the child is allowed to present a nice high fever, it potentially inadvertently protects from cancer later in life.

I know, I know. It can be difficult to resist the temptation to give children “a little something for that fever”.

After all, we certainly don’t want them to suffer the pain of an ear infection or a sore throat. But, if we understand that the medications of commerce will often cause further affliction in the future, the choice is easier.

How to Use Homeopathy for Fevers

When a fever appears to be debilitating, what’s a parent to do? I reach for one of my lovely homeopathic cell salts…Ferr phos 6x.

It’s the remedy that aids during any inflammation and may help the child get over the illness in a shorter time and step into full bloom again with fewer accompanying symptoms.

Four pills is a dose, regardless of the age of the child, and it can be offered directly into the mouth every 4 hours for as long as the little one is sick.

Once the worst is over, then Ferr phos 6x offered in combination with Calc phos 6x is a great way to ensure convalescence.

This combo is what I call the “finishing touch” to a good productive fever.

The way I have used it for my feverish children is as follows: 1 PM is time for Ferr phos, 3 PM Calc phos, 5 PM back to Ferr phos, and so on.

When used correctly, homeopathic cell salts are not only inexpensive but nontoxic. That means no side effects.

Can you think of any conventional meds like this?

Yeah, me neither.

12 Homeopathic Cell Salts for Fevers

But these little cell salts don’t just stop at fevers.

Ferr phos 6x is also a premier remedy for anemia and frequent nose bleeds.

I’ve used Calc phos 6x for my children’s dental issues such as teeth that were growing in crooked and premature cavities, growing pains, nervousness, insomnia and even fusing of broken bones. (Actually, that was for my father.) My time-tested tips and tricks as a homeopath have allowed me complete freedom from conventional pediatric dependency.

Take Away

In a world that encourages moms to depend on big pharma and its advocates and to feed our families on the fly, homeopathy, instead, celebrate the home, the cuddle of children and just the right dose of information.

But don’t stop here. There are 12 Homeopathic Cell Salts that you can learn to employ to empower your healing ability — low potency, very easy to learn, inexpensive to own, efficacious and safe. Click here to find out more!

Ferr phos 6x and Calc phos 6x offer rational medicine that empowers mothers and has done so for more than 150 years.

Long-established traditions. Informed parenting. Two little homeopathic cell salts. How easy.

Thank you so much for making people THINK!! “Modern” people seem to be clueless about their bodies and the innate abilities and purposes of symptomology. In the absence of the cell salts, letting your little one play in a warm tub and letting it go cool helps, as well. Fevers are GOOD – it means that the body is doing what it’s supposed to do. Don’t interrupt that process.

Does this come in a liquid form? It would be hard for me to get my kids to take 4 pills…

They taste like smarties candies, and they dissolve in the mouth. Kids love them, so the trick is to keep them out of sight.

Homeopathic remedies, especially cell salts, melt in the mouth within seconds of touching saliva. They can even be used on infants.

I agree with the fever is not a bad thing idea. The problem I have now is that my son recently have seizures due to high fever. He had no fever one moment and the next he was having a seizure. Now, fear is an issue for me. I have been told that this probably would not have happened if the fever had raised gradually rather than spiked so hard. There was not anything I could have done at the time and I know that (I don’t have any guilt about it). So do I go forward and not treat fevers because I couldn’t have treated the ones that caused seizures anyway as they happened to fast? They tell me this type of seizure does not cause brain damage (the are very short in our case).

As per Dr. Mendelsohn, a seasoned pediatrician, as well as a the APA, the cause of seizures is indeed as a result of a fever rising quickly. I can’t urge yo u enough to read his book. The link above will take you to Amazon and the cost of the book is about $1.00 plus shipping.

Great article!! I never treat fevers anymore, not for about 5-6 years. But I was not aware of the homeopathic remedies mentioned to work alongside the fever. I agree and fully believe that fevers are a GOOD thing and if you let your child’s body work, they will be sick less often and their illness will be short lived. My kids rarely get sick, but next time one of them gets a fever I will be referring back to this article and try the remedies alongside the fever. I love homeopathy!!!

On a side note about homeopathy, my youngest daughter (3yrs old) suffered from severe car sickness – she would throw up and be in distress, no matter what about 45 minutes into a drive, whether she had eaten, not eaten, drinks no drinks, nothing made a difference. A friend recommended Coccolus Indicus (sp?) and it has worked like a DREAM!!! The sea bands never helped her and I didn’t want to use gravol. I’ve used this remedy on 6 different long car rides since December 2012 and she has not thrown up once! Even if she’s awake the entire trip. Homeopathy is amazing and anyone who is hesitant – don’t be! Just go for it, you will be amazed :). Thanks for all the great info 🙂

Thank you for the encouraging article! My baby girl suffers from repeated ear infections every time she teethes. While I haven’t heard specifically why Tylenol isn’t safe I have heard and been applying the leave fever be concept at my chiro’s suggestion. It really is a learning process to revamp everything you thought you knew! I look forward to continuing to learn how to treat my family is a way that encourages their immune systems to become stronger 🙂 Quick question…are your cell salts from Hyland’s Kids Kit? And where did you get them?
Thank you again for your encouraging article right when I needed it!

there are no cell slats in the Hyland’s KIds Kit. But you can buy them on line from Hyland’s. They’re also found at most health food stores and we also have a cell salt kit that comes in a nifty nylon carrying case in my office. The price is a bit more, but the case is convenient for diaper bags and travel. Please feel free to call my office if you have any trouble finding them.

I am actually allergic to Tylenol, I’ve never given any meds to my kids. For ear infection we used colloidal silver with great success, it helps almost instantly and symptoms went away within a few hours after just two drops in the ear 🙂

Three of my children ran high temps, over 105, consistently. It wasn’t rare for them. I tried homeopathy for awhile. After a few hospitalizations, I threw the homeopathic in the trash and gave them acetaminophen and/or ibuprofen. No more hospitalizations! We do let a low grade fever run its course and use nutrition/herbs for support. But I won’t trust homeopathy.

Agree Sharon! We have had some high fevers (which I initially blew off as nothing; I’m a nurse, so I probably blow off too many small illness related things, but that’s a whole other story) that were actually a sign of something more serious and ended up hospitalized. Thankfully fevers don’t happen very often for us, but a high fever over 102 always gets a call to the physician, as that seems to be an indicator that something serious may be going on (I’ve had bladder/kidney infection, infected and almost ruptured gallbladder, kiddo and hubby with blood in urine/kidney dysfunction from undetected strep, strep that showed up with same symptoms as appendicitis). Low grades fevers and common illnesses are rare for us (yay), but a high fever gets this momma’s attention!!

Homeopathy ALWAYS works…… when the remedy is well chosen. Just like kefir always set, when the directions are followed correctly.

I really like Oscillo. It doesn’t do much for the fever but it does a lot for the symptoms. When everyone and their dog was getting vaxed for that h1n1(?) or swine flu, I just stocked up on Oscillo. I’m going to check out the other stuff Joette recommends. You can never have too much homeopathy in your drug cabinet. 🙂

Thank you for the information Joette. Are these the usual steps you take for children who experience febrile seizures as well? I do not like giving medications, but my children (ages 2 and 4) can also spike within 3-4 minutes and I have not yet found a natural way to prevent them. I use tepid wash cloths and baths, but that doesn’t seem to be sufficient and I worry that too many seizures will have a more negative impact than acetaminophen. Any ideas?

I’ve used these remedies for over 25 years and have taught thousands of mothers to do the same. I’ve yet to hear that they don’t work, unless the directions were ill followed. Mother Teresa administered them to the poor in Calcutta. Gandhi insisted that the Indian Government employ them. Germany considers homeopathy a part of their medical system. The British Royal Family has depended on homeopathy for over 3 generations. Prince Charles is an advocate.
If you don’t mind, I’m curious as to what part of this presentation encourages skepticism.
