Alkaline Breakfast Recipes

4 Recipes

Starting the day with an alkaline breakfast is a bit of a buzz phrase within the healthfood community. While the definition can be rather complicated depending on your source, according to Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD all it essentially means is foods that clean the digestive tract. Only raw plant foods qualify based on this definition. Even raw eggs are considered acidic as are most animal based foods. This doesn’t mean they are unhealthy; in fact, they are extremely nourishing. They just need to be balanced by alkaline choices.

Hence, the only breakfast recipes that would qualify as alkaline would be smoothies that contain raw fruits or vegetables of some kind. Mango, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas are very popular alkalizing breakfast foods. If green smoothies are a favorite breakfast idea, then be sure to choose vegetables that don’t contain anti-nutrients in raw form such as cucumbers, zucchini, squash, lettuces, and celery. Be sure to include a dose of healthy fats for maximum absorption!
