My parents never made breakfast pancakes when I was growing up. So, no surprise that they were my favorite treat while on summer road trips. One unforgettable experience was ordering a stack of buckwheat pancakes at a Howard Johnson’s restaurant. They were not at all what I expected with an overly strong flavor and firm texture that did not at all appeal to a picky 10 year old!
