Hit ’em where it hurts, my friends. Right in the wallet.
This is the despotic approach Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has chosen with his announcement only hours ago at Westmead Hospital in Sydney that parents who choose not to vaccinate their children will no longer be eligible for the Family Tax Benefit, worth thousands of dollars per year.
The benefit amounts to $726 per child, per year and is paid when children are vaccinated at one, two and five years of age.
Since last year, parents who chose not to vaccinate but registered as conscientious objectors still received the payment.
Now, those who register citing a philosophical objection to vaccination will no longer receive the Family Tax Benefit under the Labor Party’s new policy. From now on, exemptions will only be made on religious or medical grounds.
Rudd admits the decision is “hardline” but justified the policy saying:
“I want to build an Australia where every mum and dad can feel safe and confident that when their kids go to school that practically every kid in that school is going to be immunized.
One of the great barbecue stoppers in the community across Australia is immunization and [parents worry] whether their kids are perfectly safe at school — they have a concern and anxiety.”
Outdated “Vaccine Science” Used to Force Compliance
Using outdated, nonscientific rhetoric to back up the fascist policy, Labor insists that the “science” of immunization “cannot be disputed.”
A government statement on the matter proclaimed that “immunization is the safest and most effective way for parents to protect their children from disease, and one of the most important public health measures at our disposal.”
Federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek said in an interview that the new policy will boost vaccination rates.
“We think about 3 million lives are saved a year around the world” (“think” being the operative word).
To those parents concerned about the skyrocketing cases of autoimmune disease, learning disabilities and other problems in children that have increased in lockstep with a more aggressive vaccination schedule, Australian Medical Association president Dr. Steve Hambleton says the benefits of vaccinating far outweigh the risks.
“The strong message here is the Government is rewarding people who do the right thing … [and] fully immunize their children. If we can get the immunization rates above 90 per cent, we will abolish diseases like measles and we can attack things like whooping cough.”
The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions
One wonders if doctors like Dr. Steve Hambleton spouting their nonscientific propaganda all in the name of science would be surprised to learn that immunization rates below 50% have existed for decades without any resurgence in widespread epidemics?
According to Dr. Russell Blaylock MD:
“If we listen to present-day wisdom, we are all at risk of resurgent massive epidemics should the vaccination rate fall below 95%. Yet, we have all lived for at least 30 to 40 years with 50% or less of the population having vaccine protection. That is, herd immunity has not existed in this country for many decades and no resurgent epidemics have occurred. Vaccine-induced herd immunity is a lie used to frighten doctors, public-health officials, other medical personnel, and the public into accepting vaccinations.
When we examine the scientific literature, we find that for many of the vaccines protective immunity was 30 to 40%, meaning that 70% to 60% of the public has been without vaccine protection. Again, this would mean that with a 30% to 40% vaccine-effectiveness rate combined with the fact that most people lost their immune protection within 2 to 10 year of being vaccinated, most of us were without the magical 95% number needed for herd immunity. This is why vaccine defenders insist the vaccines have 95% effectiveness rates.”
Dr. Kelly Brogan MD adds:
“It is a noble intention to protect the population from the ravages of infectious disease; however, this intention is an impossible one to achieve through current vaccination science.”
Will this new policy force more parents to vaccinate and achieve the goal of nearly 100% compliance? Highly doubtful. For parents who really understand the research on vaccine science, no monetary buy-offs will work. Neither will putting a gun to their heads.
